Territory Account Manager Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a territory account manager in Illinois?
Most territory account manager roles in Illinois require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field, though some employers in industrial or distribution sectors accept equivalent field sales experience in lieu of a degree. Illinois does not issue a state license specific to territory account management, but candidates pursuing medical device or pharmaceutical sales should be aware that employer-mandated product certifications and HIPAA compliance training are standard prerequisites in the state's large healthcare corridor.
How much do territory account managers make in Illinois?
Territory account managers in Illinois earn a median of about $73,510 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $44,130 for the lowest 10% to over $134,030 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire territory account managers in Illinois?
Employers hiring territory account managers in Illinois right now include Toast, Block, and Abbott, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and major distribution hubs means the pipeline of openings across healthcare, technology, and industrial sectors stays consistently active throughout the year.
Which Illinois cities have the most territory account manager jobs?
Chicago, Illinois, and Ohio have the most territory account manager openings in Illinois. Chicago dominates because of its density of corporate headquarters, healthcare systems, and B2B technology buyers, while Peoria and Rockford generate steady openings tied to Caterpillar's manufacturing network and the regional distribution infrastructure that serves those mid-state markets.
Are there remote territory account manager jobs in Illinois?
Yes, but they're rare. Territory account management is built around in-person client visits and relationship-driven field coverage, which limits full remote arrangements for most roles. About 100% of territory account manager openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to concentrate in inside-sales-adjacent or strategic account management roles where client travel is infrequent.
How can I get hired as a territory account manager in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an inside sales, sales development representative, or retail account associate role at a large Illinois-based employer, then transitioning into a field territory position after demonstrating quota attainment. Companies like Abbott, Medline, and regional food-service distributors headquartered in the Chicago metro run structured sales associate or sales rotational programs designed for candidates without field experience. Earning a Certified Sales Professional credential or completing a sales training certificate from an Illinois community college strengthens applications considerably.
Where can I find and apply to territory account manager jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to territory account manager jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and preferred territory, and apply directly to each listing without needing to create a profile first.
