Tips for Finding H-1B Sponsorship Jobs in Oklahoma
Focus on Oklahoma's energy sector first
Oil and gas companies headquartered in Oklahoma City, including Devon Energy and Chesapeake Energy, have consistent H-1B sponsorship histories. Engineering, geoscience, and data analytics roles within these firms are among the most active sponsorship categories in the state.
Target Tulsa's aerospace and manufacturing base
Tulsa hosts a dense cluster of aerospace employers, including American Airlines' maintenance hub and NORDAM Group. MRO, engineering, and IT roles at these companies have supported H-1B filings, making Tulsa a strong secondary market beyond Oklahoma City.
Search using visa-filtered job boards
General job boards don't filter by sponsorship willingness. Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for H-1B sponsorship roles in Oklahoma by industry and location, saving time you'd otherwise spend manually checking each employer's history.
Check DOL LCA disclosure data before applying
The Department of Labor publishes Labor Condition Application filings, which confirm which Oklahoma employers have recently sponsored H-1B workers. Use this to verify sponsorship history before investing time in an application, particularly with smaller regional employers.
Research university and hospital systems
Oklahoma's major academic medical centers, including OU Health and Saint Francis Health System in Tulsa, sponsor H-1B visas for physicians, researchers, and clinical specialists. University positions at OU and OSU are often cap-exempt, providing more flexible filing timelines.
Engage staffing firms with established H-1B programs
Several IT and engineering staffing firms operating in Oklahoma have active H-1B sponsorship programs. These placements typically cover technology and professional services roles and can be a practical entry point while you pursue direct employer positions.

Which industries in Oklahoma sponsor the most H-1B visas?
Energy, healthcare, aerospace, and information technology account for the largest share of H-1B visa sponsorships in Oklahoma. Oil and gas companies based in Oklahoma City drive significant engineering and geoscience filings, while healthcare systems in both Oklahoma City and Tulsa consistently sponsor physicians and clinical researchers. IT staffing firms add volume across multiple sectors.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City and Tulsa are where the overwhelming majority of Oklahoma's H-1B sponsorship activity is concentrated. Oklahoma City leads due to its energy sector headquarters and large hospital systems. Tulsa follows closely, driven by aerospace, manufacturing, and healthcare employers. Smaller markets like Norman and Stillwater see limited sponsorship activity, primarily through university employers.
What types of roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Oklahoma?
Roles that require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules. In Oklahoma, this most commonly includes petroleum engineers, software developers, data analysts, physicians, registered nurses in specialty care, aerospace engineers, and financial analysts. Generalist roles where any degree satisfies the requirement are less likely to qualify.
How do I find H-1B sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by sponsorship availability, so you can search Oklahoma H-1B roles by industry, city, and job type without manually screening each posting. Alongside that, reviewing DOL LCA disclosure data shows which Oklahoma employers have active sponsorship histories, helping you prioritize applications toward companies with demonstrated willingness to file H-1B petitions.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
