Area Sales Manager Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a area sales manager in Pennsylvania?
Most area sales manager roles in Pennsylvania require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a closely related field combined with several years of demonstrated field sales performance. Pennsylvania does not issue a state license specifically for sales managers, so advancement typically follows a path from individual contributor sales roles into team leadership. Employers in regulated sectors like pharmaceutical or medical device sales may additionally require product-specific certifications relevant to Pennsylvania's healthcare industry standards.
How much do area sales managers make in Pennsylvania?
Area sales managers in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $130,610 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $71,500 for the lowest 10% to over $239,470 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire area sales managers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring area sales managers in Pennsylvania right now include Enterprise Mobility, ICOP, and Flowers Foods, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services companies means consistent demand from both large anchor corporations and regional distributors with multi-state territory structures based out of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most area sales manager jobs?
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Pennsylvania have the most area sales manager openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia drives the largest share of postings through its dense concentration of healthcare systems, financial institutions, and corporate headquarters, while Pittsburgh's manufacturing and technology sector growth anchors demand in the west and Allentown's industrial and logistics base sustains steady hiring in the Lehigh Valley corridor.
Are there remote area sales manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they're less common because area sales management typically requires regular in-person visits to clients and field team oversight across a defined territory. About 64% of area sales manager openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those arrangements tend to apply most to account strategy, reporting, and internal team coordination rather than the core field-facing responsibilities of the role.
How can I get hired as a area sales manager in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a territory sales representative or inside sales associate role at a Pennsylvania employer and building a measurable performance record before pursuing management. Large Pennsylvania-based distributors and healthcare companies regularly hire into structured sales development programs that rotate candidates through territory work before promoting into leadership. A record of quota attainment, even from a junior role, carries more weight with Pennsylvania hiring managers than formal credentials alone.
Where can I find and apply to area sales manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to area sales manager jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings across industries and regions. Find roles that match your territory experience and target sector, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
