Operations Engineer Jobs in USA with Visa Sponsorship
Operations engineers are sponsored at Intel, TSMC, Amazon, Tesla, Pfizer, and ExxonMobil for roles optimizing production systems, improving manufacturing yield, designing process flows, and managing facility performance that require industrial, chemical, or mechanical engineering degrees. H-1B visa classification is straightforward because operations engineering is a clear specialty occupation, and semiconductor fab expansion under the CHIPS Act, pharmaceutical manufacturing growth, and energy infrastructure investment have created nationwide demand that far exceeds the domestic engineering talent pool.

You will work with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors, all to position your team and organization for success. You will facilitate faster, better, and more efficient, positive outcomes for the business and our customers. Your objective will be to build the world’s most reliable, cost-effective and scalable network to support all of our current and future customers and users globally. As the Network Engineer in Google Enterprise Networks (GEN) Operations you will serve as a frontline technical contributor responsible for maintaining the daily health, availability, and performance of Google's global enterprise network. Operating within established playbooks and Method of Procedures (MOPs), you'll focus on incident triage, basic diagnostics, vendor coordination (ISPs and TAC), and routine change implementations. This role requires executing day-to-day operational tasks with moderate guidance, managing incoming tickets and alerts within defined Service Level Objectives (SLOs), completing basic network modifications, and capturing diagnostic artifacts. You're expected to expand their technical and programmatic knowledge while continuously looking for ways to improve operational documentation and escalate complex, systemic challenges to senior engineers. Google's network provides services to millions of Internet users around the world. Our metros are on the edge of our network where Google connects to its users. The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience working directly within a network operations environment performing incident response and hardware/software troubleshooting.
2 years of experience working with networking technologies (TCP/IP) and core routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, or ISIS).
1 year of experience performing LAN switching and executing standard Method of Procedures (MOPs) for fault isolation and diagnostics.
* Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations.
Experience with advanced network virtualization and overlay technologies, including MPLS VPN and Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN).
Skilled in the configuration and troubleshooting of enterprise-grade Wi-Fi standards and infrastructure, with experience coordinating alongside Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
Knowledge of core network services and security protocols, including IPSec, GRE, DHCP, DNS, and RADIUS.
* Familiarity with major network vendor platforms (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Palo Alto) and basic network automation or scripting capabilities.
Responsibilities
Monitor network dashboards and alerting systems (e.g., IRM) for anomalies, perform initial triage to classify severity, and act on alerts within defined SLOs.
Troubleshoot and resolve low to moderate complexity network incidents affecting wired/wireless networks, routing, switching, and firewalls by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Implement routine network changes, such as port configurations, VLAN assignments, and software updates, following approved Change Requests (CRs) and performing pre- and post-change verifications.
Maintain network diagrams, manage user-reported tickets, coordinate with vendors/ISPs, and escalate high-impact issues to senior engineers with detailed diagnostic information.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $104000 - $149000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits
