INTRODUCTION

The Project Management Specialist serves as Nebraska Public Media’s central project management facilitator and operational resource for project planning, coordination, documentation, accountability, and process improvement. This position supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of organization-wide project management practices and helps ensure that projects are planned, documented, communicated, and completed in alignment with NPM’s project management guidelines.

This position manages cross-functional projects while also supporting and directing other project leads across the organization. The position works closely with project sponsors, department leaders, supervisors, staff, and necessary external consultants to clarify project scope, establish timelines, identify resource needs, track progress, document decisions, monitor deliverables, and resolve barriers. This position will serve as a hub for NPM project management practices by helping leaders apply consistent tools, templates, expectations, and follow-up processes.

The position is also responsible for identifying inefficiencies in project workflows, operational processes, documentation practices, communication structures, and handoffs. The position recommends and implements practical improvements that strengthen coordination, accountability, transparency, and timely completion of organizational initiatives. In addition to project management responsibilities, this position will support HR functions primarily in a back-up capacity.

Nebraska Public Media offers a full spectrum of communications services to the citizens of Nebraska, the nation and the world. Some of these services include a nine-station, statewide noncommercial public television network affiliated with PBS; a nine-station, statewide noncommercial public radio network affiliated with NPR; a cutting-edge Digital Media Group; and state-of-the-art audio, video and multimedia production capability delivered via broadcast, satellite, cable, Internet and broadband delivery channels.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, organizational development, management, or related field and three (3) years of experience coordinating/managing projects, programs, operational workflows, administrative processes, or other cross-functional work involving multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
- Additional years of relevant experience or completed relevant education may substitute for required education/experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience must demonstrate the ability to organize work, establish priorities, track details, communicate effectively, follow up on deliverables, maintain confidentiality, build positive working relationships, and meet deadlines.
- Experience using a project management tool, shared document platform, spreadsheet, database, or similar system to track information, process work, or support operational functions.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new software, systems, tools, workflows, hardware, and technology.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Knowledge of project management principles, tools, templates, and best practices.
- Knowledge of project coordination, administrative operations or related business practices.
- Knowledge of process improvement, workflow design, change management, organizational effectiveness, or operational improvement practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master’s degree in business administration, project management, organizational development, management, or related field.
- Experience supporting HR, payroll, recruitment, or other administrative operations.
- Ability to identify inefficiencies, analyze workflow issues, recommend improvements, and support implementation of more effective processes.
- Knowledge of payroll and/or human resources practices, including recruitment, onboarding, leave processing, employee records, HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems, or related HR operations.
- Knowledge of federal, state, university, or organizational policies and guidelines related to business, payroll, employment, or human resources practices.
- Demonstrated ability to provide training, coach others on processes or tools, and support consistent application of guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare project plans, timelines, status reports, meeting notes, process documentation, training materials, dashboards, or related project materials.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

SALARY

$60,000/year minimum
