Target hospitals with existing H-1B programs
Large hospital systems like HCA Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente, and Cleveland Clinic regularly sponsor nursing technicians. They have established immigration processes and understand the specialty occupation requirements for healthcare roles.
Emphasize your specialized clinical training
Highlight certifications in phlebotomy, EKG, medication administration, or patient monitoring. These specialized skills help establish that your role requires more than basic healthcare training and supports H-1B eligibility.
Consider starting in specialty units
ICU, cardiac care, and surgical units often require additional technical certifications. These specialized environments make stronger H-1B cases since they demand specific knowledge beyond general nursing assistant duties.
Research state licensing requirements early
Many states require nursing technicians to hold specific licenses or certifications. Understanding these requirements before applying helps you target appropriate employers and strengthens your qualification discussions during interviews.
Network through healthcare staffing agencies
Agencies like AMN Healthcare and Cross Country Healthcare work with hospitals nationwide and understand visa sponsorship processes. They can connect you with employers actively seeking international healthcare professionals.
Prepare for degree equivalency evaluation
If your nursing education is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from organizations like CGFNS or IERF. This documentation helps employers understand how your qualifications meet U.S. standards.

Find Nursing Technician JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do nursing technician positions qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, nursing technician roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship when they require specialized healthcare training and a nursing degree or equivalent certification. The position must involve clinical responsibilities beyond basic patient care, such as medication administration, patient monitoring, or specialized procedures that require formal healthcare education.
How to find Nursing Technician jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Nursing Technician jobs with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international healthcare professionals with sponsoring employers. Focus on hospitals, long-term care facilities, and healthcare systems that commonly sponsor H-1B, EB-3, or TN visas for nursing support roles. These employers often have ongoing staffing needs and established visa sponsorship programs for qualified nursing technicians.
What degree requirements do employers expect for nursing technician H-1B sponsorship?
Most employers require at least an associate degree in nursing, healthcare, or a related field. Some positions may accept equivalent healthcare certifications plus relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in nursing strengthens your H-1B case and opens opportunities at larger hospital systems that prefer higher educational credentials.
Which healthcare employers are most likely to sponsor nursing technicians?
Large hospital systems, academic medical centers, and specialized care facilities have the highest sponsorship rates for nursing technicians. Organizations like Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, and major health networks regularly sponsor international healthcare workers because they have established immigration departments and understand healthcare visa requirements.
How do nursing technician H-1B approval rates compare to other healthcare roles?
Nursing technician H-1B petitions generally have strong approval rates when properly documented, typically above 85%. The key is demonstrating that your specific role requires specialized healthcare knowledge and formal training. Positions in specialty units or with additional certifications tend to have higher approval rates.
Can nursing technicians transition to green cards through their employer?
Yes, nursing technicians can pursue employment-based green cards, typically through the EB-2 or EB-3 categories. The PERM labor certification process requires proving no qualified U.S. workers are available for your specific position. Many healthcare employers support green card applications for nursing technicians due to ongoing healthcare worker shortages.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Nursing Technician jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
