Product Owner Jobs in USA with Visa Sponsorship
Product owner roles sit at the intersection of Agile development and business strategy, with sponsorship most common at tech companies and organizations practicing Scrum or SAFe methodologies. The position requires both technical literacy and business acumen, which supports the specialty occupation argument when the job description clearly ties the role to degree-level expertise. Certifications like CSPO and SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager provide additional evidence of specialized knowledge for visa petitions. For detailed occupation requirements, see the O*NET profile.

The group you’ll be a part of
The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.
The impact you’ll make
The Product Owner Manager within the Product Management & Experience (PME) team is a senior Product Owner who combines strong product ownership with people leadership. This role continues to directly operate within a defined PO execution scope while also coaching, developing, and supporting a group of Product Owners who operate independently across distinct product surfaces. Acting as a force multiplier for PO quality and consistency, the PO Manager relies on clear signals, sound judgment, and lightweight mechanisms to support their team. The ideal candidate brings deep PO craft credibility, prior direct people management experience, a continuous improvement mindset, and the confidence to work with matrixed stakeholders across engineering, UX, product management, and leadership levels.
What you’ll do
Execution & Craft
- Act as a practicing Product Owner by translating product strategy and business intent into clear priorities, actionable backlogs, and delivery outcomes within a defined execution scope.
- Create and maintain high‑quality backlog artifacts—including user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting requirements—to enable efficient, low‑ambiguity execution by engineering teams.
- Lead metrics‑driven prioritization and tradeoff decisions, ensuring daily execution aligns with broader product and business goals.
- Serve as the primary execution decision‑maker, providing timely clarification and resolving ambiguity for engineering and design partners.
- Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and blockers, determining when to intervene directly versus when escalation is necessary.
People Leadership & Functional Stewardship
- Manage, coach, and develop Product Owners through regular feedback, performance management, and support for skill growth and role mastery.
- Ensure consistency and quality across independently operating Product Owners using lightweight governance, sound judgment, and exception‑based intervention rather than continuous oversight.
- Partner with product management, engineering, and UX leadership to surface systemic issues, align expectations, and continuously improve Product Owner practices across the organization.
Who we’re looking for
- Technical background - A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent practical work experience; advanced degree is a plus but not required.
- 8+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, with substantial hands-on responsibility for backlog ownership, prioritization, and execution for engineering teams.
- 2+ years of direct people management experience, including coaching, performance feedback, and ongoing development of individual contributors.
- Experience delivering enterprise software, B2B products, or data / analytic product platforms in complex organizational environments.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodology and supporting frameworks with ability to apply them pragmatically in real delivery environments.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a player-coach, balancing personal PO execution with people leadership responsibilities.
- Proven effectiveness working with matrixed stakeholders across multiple business users, product management, engineering, UX, and leadership.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Jira, or other requirement management software
- Advanced Agile or scaling frameworks certification
- Exposure to Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Product Owner
Earn the CSPO certification to demonstrate Scrum expertise
The Certified Scrum Product Owner credential from Scrum Alliance validates your expertise in Agile product ownership. It supports the specialty occupation argument by showing your role requires formalized, specialized training.
Target enterprise software companies and consulting firms
Product owner roles are most common at organizations running Scrum at scale. Companies like SAP, Salesforce, and large consulting firms such as Accenture and Capgemini hire product owners and have established visa sponsorship processes.
Highlight technical requirements in your role description
Product owners sit between business stakeholders and engineering teams, but USCIS needs to see specialized knowledge. Emphasize your work with APIs, data models, or technical backlog prioritization to strengthen the case under SOC 15-1299.
Add SAFe certification for enterprise-scale roles
The SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification is valued at large organizations using the Scaled Agile Framework. It signals expertise in managing product work across multiple Agile release trains.
Document your sprint metrics and delivery impact
Concrete evidence of velocity improvements, release frequency gains, or customer adoption metrics strengthens both your sponsorship case and your resume. Quantifiable outcomes show employers you're worth the investment in visa support.

Find Product Owner JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does having a Certified Scrum Product Owner certification help with visa sponsorship?
CSPO and similar Agile certifications (SAFe POPM, ICAgile ICP-APO) provide supporting evidence of specialized methodology knowledge in visa petitions, but they do not replace the bachelor's degree requirement. These certifications are most valuable when combined with a relevant degree and a job description that clearly requires Agile expertise. Immigration attorneys can use them to demonstrate that the product owner role involves a specialized body of knowledge distinct from general management.
How does USCIS view Agile-specific roles like product owner for H-1B classification?
USCIS does not have a specific classification for Agile roles, so product owner positions are typically filed under broader occupational categories like computer and information systems managers or management analysts. The challenge is demonstrating that the role requires a specific bachelor's degree. Successful petitions emphasize the technical aspects of the role, such as working with engineering teams on backlog refinement, understanding system architecture for prioritization decisions, and using data analysis for feature validation.
Is the product owner role easier to sponsor at tech companies than other industries?
Generally yes. Technology companies have the most mature Agile practices and the clearest connection between product owner duties and technical degree requirements. They also process higher volumes of H-1B petitions and understand how to frame these roles for USCIS. Non-tech companies with Agile teams can also sponsor product owners successfully, but they may need to work harder to document the technical depth of the role and connect it to a specific academic discipline.
How to find Product Owner jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Product Owner jobs with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international talent with sponsoring employers. Focus your search on tech companies, fintech firms, and established startups that commonly hire Product Owners on H-1B, L-1, or other work visas. These organizations often need experienced product professionals and have established visa sponsorship processes.
What degree fields work best for product owner visa petitions?
Computer science, information systems, and software engineering degrees produce the strongest petitions because they directly connect to the technical aspects of backlog management, sprint planning, and engineering collaboration. Business degrees with a technology concentration can also work. The employer should avoid listing overly broad degree requirements like "any business or technology degree," as this weakens the specialty occupation argument. Narrowing to two or three specific fields is the most effective approach.
Can product owners qualify for L-1 visas when transferring between international offices?
Yes. The L-1B specialized knowledge visa can work for product owners who have deep knowledge of a multinational company's proprietary product, processes, and technical architecture. The L-1A managerial visa may apply for senior product owners who manage teams of developers or other product owners. Both require at least one continuous year of employment with the same company in the past three years. These pathways bypass the H-1B lottery entirely.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Product Owner jobs?
When a U.S. employer sponsors a foreign worker for a work visa, they are legally required to pay at least the "prevailing wage", the average wage paid to workers in the same occupation, in the same geographic area, with similar experience. This is set by the Department of Labor to prevent employers from hiring foreign workers at below-market rates. The prevailing wage varies significantly by role, location, and experience level. For example, a product owner in California will have a different prevailing wage than the same role in a smaller state. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search Page.
