Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Clinical Medical Assistant
Target healthcare systems over small clinics
Large hospital networks and integrated health systems have established immigration processes and can better demonstrate specialty occupation requirements than independent medical practices.
Emphasize specialized clinical skills
Highlight experience with EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, or medical device operation. Basic administrative duties won't support H-1B petitions for medical assistant roles.
Healthcare degree requirement is critical
Employers must prove the position requires formal healthcare education. Medical assistant certificates or associate degrees in health sciences strengthen specialty occupation arguments.
Document clinical certifications clearly
CMA, RMA, or state-specific medical assistant licenses demonstrate specialized knowledge. Include certification details in your resume and employer's job description.
Consider specialty practice areas
Cardiology, oncology, or surgical clinics can better justify specialty occupation requirements than general practice offices due to specialized procedures and equipment.

Find Clinical Medical Assistant JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do Clinical Medical Assistants qualify for H-1B visas?
Yes, but only when employers demonstrate the role requires specialized healthcare knowledge. USCIS approves H-1B petitions for Clinical Medical Assistant positions that involve complex clinical procedures, specialized medical equipment, or healthcare informatics requiring formal education beyond basic medical assistant training.
What degree do I need for Clinical Medical Assistant H-1B sponsorship?
You need a bachelor's degree in a health-related field, or an associate degree in medical assisting plus relevant work experience. Some employers successfully petition with medical assistant certificates if the role involves specialized clinical duties requiring formal healthcare education and certification.
How competitive are H-1B approvals for Clinical Medical Assistant roles?
H-1B approval rates for medical assistant positions vary significantly based on job complexity and employer documentation. Positions emphasizing clinical procedures, EHR management, and specialized equipment operation have higher approval rates than basic administrative medical assistant roles.
How to find Clinical Medical Assistant jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Clinical Medical Assistant jobs with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international candidates with sponsoring employers. Focus your search on healthcare systems, hospitals, and large medical practices that commonly sponsor H-1B, TN, or other work visas for clinical roles. These employers often have established visa sponsorship programs for qualified medical support staff.
Can I use TN visa for Clinical Medical Assistant positions?
Clinical Medical Assistant roles don't directly qualify for TN visas, but Medical Technologist positions do. If your role involves laboratory work, diagnostic testing, or clinical analysis requiring a bachelor's degree in medical technology or related science, TN may be an option.
Which employers sponsor Clinical Medical Assistants for visas?
Large hospital systems, specialty medical practices, and integrated healthcare networks are most likely to sponsor Clinical Medical Assistants. These employers can better demonstrate specialty occupation requirements and have established immigration processes compared to small independent medical offices.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Clinical Medical Assistant jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
