Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
What degree do I need for H-1B sponsorship as a program supervisor?
Most program supervisor H-1B petitions require a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, healthcare administration, education, or the specific field of the programs you'll supervise. The degree field must relate to the specialized knowledge required for the particular program area.
Do program supervisors qualify for O-1 visas?
Program supervisors can qualify for O-1 visas if they demonstrate extraordinary ability through national recognition, published research, awards, or leadership in developing innovative programs. Most program supervisor positions are better suited for H-1B sponsorship unless you have exceptional achievements.
Which employers commonly sponsor program supervisors?
Healthcare systems, universities, large nonprofits, government contractors, and federal agencies frequently sponsor program supervisors. These organizations typically have established HR processes for visa sponsorship and understand the specialized nature of program management roles.
What makes program supervisor roles qualify as specialty occupations?
Program supervisor positions qualify when they require specialized knowledge in program development, regulatory compliance, data analysis, or specific program areas like clinical quality or educational curriculum. The role must demonstrate complexity beyond general management tasks.
Can program supervisors get green card sponsorship?
Yes, program supervisors typically qualify for EB-2 green cards if they have advanced degrees or exceptional ability, or EB-3 for bachelor's level positions. PERM labor certification success depends on demonstrating the specialized skills required for the specific program area.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Program Supervisor jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
