How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Account Executive
Target enterprise SaaS companies selling into your region of expertise
Companies expanding into EMEA, APAC, or Latin American markets actively seek account executives who speak the language and understand the business culture. Your international background becomes a competitive advantage rather than a visa complication when the territory requires it.
Build a verifiable track record of quota attainment
Sales is one of the few functions where your value is directly measurable through revenue generated and quota percentage attained. Documented proof of consistent performance gives employers confidence in sponsoring you because they can calculate the ROI of the investment.
Focus on complex, consultative B2B sales over transactional roles
Enterprise sales roles that involve solution design, multi-stakeholder deal management, and strategic account planning present a stronger specialty occupation case than inside sales or retail positions. The consultative nature of these roles requires degree-level business and analytical knowledge.
Consider the L-1 transfer path from an international sales office
If a target company has offices in your home country, joining that office first and transferring to the U.S. after one year via an L-1 visa bypasses the H-1B lottery. Companies like Oracle, SAP, and Salesforce operate global sales organizations with established transfer programs.
Position multilingual skills as a revenue-generating asset
If you speak languages relevant to the company's target markets, quantify the revenue opportunity you can help unlock. Companies are more willing to invest in sponsorship when a candidate directly enables access to a new customer segment or geographic market.

Do companies sponsor H-1B visas for account executives?
Yes, particularly in B2B SaaS and enterprise technology sales. Companies like Salesforce, Oracle, SAP, and ServiceNow hire account executives with visa sponsorship, especially for roles that require multilingual skills or experience selling into specific international markets.
Is an account executive role considered a specialty occupation?
Account executive positions that require a bachelor's degree and involve complex B2B sales - such as enterprise software, financial services, or technical solutions - can meet the specialty occupation standard. Roles involving consultative selling, solution architecture, and strategic account planning are stronger than transactional sales positions.
What sales experience is expected for an account executive visa sponsorship role?
Most sponsored AE positions require 2-5 years of B2B sales experience with a documented track record of meeting or exceeding quota. Experience with enterprise sales cycles, CRM platforms like Salesforce, and complex multi-stakeholder deal processes is typically expected.
Are there alternative visa options for sales professionals?
The E-1 treaty trader visa may apply if you are selling on behalf of a company engaged in substantial trade between the U.S. and your home country. The L-1 visa is another option if you are transferring from a sales role at an international office of the same company. TN visas do not include a direct sales professional category.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Account Executive jobs?
When a U.S. employer sponsors a foreign worker for a work visa, they are legally required to pay at least the "prevailing wage" — the average wage paid to workers in the same occupation, in the same geographic area, with similar experience. This is set by the Department of Labor to prevent employers from hiring foreign workers at below-market rates. The prevailing wage varies significantly by role, location, and experience level — for example, a account executive in California will have a different prevailing wage than the same role in a smaller state. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search.
