Physician Assistant Jobs in USA with Visa Sponsorship
Physician assistants are sponsored through H-1B at hospitals, health systems, and specialty clinics, with the master's degree requirement in physician assistant studies making specialty occupation classification strong and nonprofit institutions like Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, and Cleveland Clinic filing cap-exempt petitions year-round without the lottery. The U.S. faces growing PA demand across primary care, emergency medicine, surgery, and specialty practices, and EB-2 green card sponsorship provides a direct permanent residency pathway because PA roles require advanced degrees that qualify for the professional category.

How to Get Visa Sponsorship as a Physician Assistant
Nonprofit Hospital Systems File Cap-Exempt H-1B Year-Round
Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, Mass General Brigham, and university-affiliated hospitals file cap-exempt H-1B for PAs with no lottery and year-round filing. These systems employ PAs across emergency, surgical, hospitalist, and specialty services.
Emergency Medicine and Surgical PAs Are in Highest Demand
Emergency departments, trauma centers, and surgical services face the most acute PA shortages and offer signing bonuses of $5,000 to $20,000. These high-acuity settings sponsor urgently because coverage gaps directly impact patient care.
NCCPA Certification and State Licensure Are Required Before Filing
Foreign-educated PAs must hold NCCPA certification (PANCE passage) and active state PA licensure before any employer can file a visa petition. Graduates of non-U.S. PA programs must typically complete a U.S.-accredited PA program or equivalent pathway.
EB-2 Professional Green Card Is the Standard Permanent Pathway
PA positions require master's degrees, qualifying for EB-2 professional immigrant visa sponsorship through PERM labor certification. EB-2 processing is faster than EB-3 and leads directly to permanent residency.
Primary Care PAs in Underserved Areas Get Fastest Sponsorship
Family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatric PAs in rural and medically underserved areas fill the most critical provider gaps. Employers in shortage designations sponsor with the highest urgency and often include loan repayment benefits.
Dermatology and Orthopedic Specialty PAs Earn Premium Compensation
PAs specializing in dermatology, orthopedic surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and gastroenterology earn $130,000 to $170,000 at the highest-paying practices. Specialty experience commands premium compensation and strong employer sponsorship willingness.
